The second Vocational Training Centre (VTC) at Tamenglong constructed by 11 Assam Rifles has been inaugurated today by 59 Mountain Brigade Commandant Brig.
Anil Chauhan as the chief guest.
The VTC inauguration programme held at Utopia, Tamenglong district headquarters was also graced by the presence of 11 AR Commandant PS Chhonkar, Maj Tripathi and Maj D Dey.
The VTC meant for Women Development Organization, Tamenglong was constructed under the Military Civic Action programme 2009 as a cost of Rs 3.5 lakhs.
Speaking as chief guest, Brig.
Anil Chauhan, said that he is very happy to be present at Tamenglong after a long journey from Senapati District.
"The army is here to help the people, and if any assistance of needed than the army will be more than willing to help you," he assured.
He also mentioned that army is there to help the people but the best way is to work hard and help themselves.
God will also bless those who work hard, the Brig exhorted.
While welcoming the dignitaries, a functionary of the Women Development Organization expressed profound gratitude to 11 Assam Rifles for setting up the VTC.
She expressed hope that the womenfolk in the area will definitely be benefited and will sustain empowerment of the local women through economic self sustenance.
To show their gratefulness to the AR unit members of the Organization presented traditional shawls to the guests and also staged cultural programmes.

Anil Chauhan, who is on a three day visit of Tamenglong district left for Nungba sub-division, after which he is scheduled to visit Tamei sub-division.
During his short stay at Tamenglong District he interacted with Zeliangrong people as issues of taking over of NH 53 from BRO by the state PWD, ADC elections and ceasefire between GOI and NSCN were highlighted to the Army officer by representatrives of various Zeliangrong organisations.
