As a part of Van Mahotsav celebrations, 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs 9 Sector kicked off a two-day tree saplings plantation drive at Keithelmanbi garrison today.
9 Sector Assam Rifles Commander Brig Gajendra Prasad inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling.
Speaking on the occasion, Brig Gajendra Prasad advised all ranks of Assam Rifles to plant saplings and pass the idea to others when they go to their native places during leave.
Later, 28 Assam Rifles Commander Col SC Rana led AR officers, jawans, school children, families of officers, civil staff and villagers coming from neighbouring villages in planting around 1000 saplings.
Native plants like amla, imli, ashoka, pine, palm, jackfruit, orange, lemon, and yongchak were planted on the first day.
