Tamenglong Public Forum drew attention of the State Government and authorities on the dilapidated road condition of 110-km long IT Road, from Kangpokpi on NH-39 to Tamenglong via Tamei.
Maintaining that the road is the lifeline of parts of Tamenglong and Senapati districts, the forum said that the major portion of the road is however no more motorable in rainy season.
The forum in a press release said that the people of the district is facing food crisis and the road is no more serving the purpose for which it has been constructed.
It added that in the month of April to June, DC Tamenglong and SDO Tamei spent around Rs 6 lakhs in clearing slands-lides/slips on the way from Tamenglong to Irang bridge.
However, the repairing works could not be continued due to lack of resources, it added.
The forum also ridiculed the decision of State Government of taking over of construction works of NH-53 from BRO.
It asked how the State Government can maintain a huge National Highway which cannot even look after a single lane IT road.
The forum said that the Government must make the IT road an all weather road before it claims the maintenance of National Highway-53 .
