Imphal, July 07 2010:
The Fair Price Shop Agent Association, Senapati has decided to postpone its proposed agitation programme following an intimation to the association by Assistant Director (CAF&PD), Senapati, said a release issued to the press today.
It is said that members of the Association had planned to surrender the receipt of cost of PDS Rice on July 6 but the same has been deferred to July 9 on the 'request' of the Assistant Director.
Contending that the FPS agents had approached the authorities concerned to release the long pending backlogs of PDS rice since 2008 but to no avail, the agents alleged that this is nothing but incompetency and lack of concern for the common people.
Subsequent airing of grievances and complaints to Department officials have also failed to evoke positive response thereby compelling the Association to decide on surrendering cost of PDS rice receipt, the release maintained and recounted that even democratic form of agitations followed by economic blockade were launched to make the State authorities honour the genuine demand.
The Association also stated that it should not be held responsible for anything undesirable in case of failure to address its grievances at the earliest.
