Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister, Y Erabot today revealed a bad stock position of petroleum products in the government oil depots.
In reply to a question asked by opposition MLA, Ng Bijoy in the the state Assembly today, the Minister further revealed that 1250 kilolitre of diesel which will last six days, 455 kilolitre of petrol that will last four days and 332 kilolitre of SK oil (Kerosene) are in the oil depots stock.
While revealing the stock positions of petroleum products, the minister further asserted that government is trying its best to make available goods items under Public Distribution System (PDS) to the people without interruption under a policy.
The government has its own policy to ensure uninterrupted distribution of rice and other items under PDS to the people, said the minister adding that his department is efforting to replenish the stock position of the PDS items including SK oil (kerosene).
Normally, the items were procured by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) authority to their godowns located at Jiribam, Imphal and Ukhrul and state consumer affairs, food and public distribution bought it by advance payments for every month.
The items so buy by the state CAF&PD were deposited in the district godowns of CAF&PD control by the DCs concern under the order of the directorate.
The items are distributed to the public through the district level officers of the CAF&PD, the minister said.
Monthly quotas of SK oil have been distributed upto the April but for the month of May and June, the same items could distributed to the people till date due to the bad stock position, he said informing that his department is trying to improving the stock position at the earliest.
In reply to another question raised by the opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam, works minister, K Ranjit said that government has started taken up steps to control quality of the road improvement works under the PWD.
Presently the rule which can block contractors' bills with regard to sub-standard working is also in force.
An order regarding banning cutting "percentage' from the contractors by the officials concern is also had also been issued.
All this steps are taken up to maintain quality in the road improvement works.
Before this, Radhabinod asked the house whether the rules and regulation regarding the offering of works to the contractors are enforcing properly.
The present road improvement works in the state are not at satisfactory.
Conditions of the roads in very nook and corner of the state are in bad shape.
In reply to another question asked by MLA N Mangi of CPI, Public Health Engineering Department minister TN Haokip said that his department has a programme for providing power line connection to every water supply schemes.
