UGC team to finalise plan for MU

Imphal, April 28: A three member expert team from the UGC led by Prof T Oomen arrived at Imphal today to finalise the 11th Plan for Manipur University.

During a meeting with the VC and officials of MU, the discussion stressed on the priorities put forward by MU including the setting up of a Hill campus of the varsity.

The team later visited the different departments of the university.

The UGC team is also set to meet student representatives, research scholars and others tomorrow at 3.30 pm.

The team is scheduled to leave on April 30 and most of the matter discussed will be finalised prior to their departure.

Meanwhile, the Manipur University Tribal Students' staged a sit-in protest inside MU campus to boycott the visit of the UGC team on the ground that the State Govt and the Centre have turned a deaf ear to their repeated pleas on a number of issue.
