Imphal, July 09:
Independent member of Parliament (MP) from Manipur's Outer Parliamentary Constituency Mani Charenamei is yet to decide on whether to support the Congress party or not when trial of strength takes place in Parliament.
With the Congress-led UPA Government in the Centre most certain to face trial of strength in the parliament sooner than later after the Left front had withdrawn its support, the Congress party has begun to galvanise support to tide over in the vote of confidence even as political pundits had been commenting that support of apolitical MPs would be equally crucial in the Government lasting its full five year term.
Even though Charenamei affirmed that he is in favour of the UPA Government going ahead with the terms of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) his decision on the vote of confidence still remains indecisive.
"It would be premature for me to comment whether I shall vote for the Congress or not.
"When a large number of other MPs voice out against the Congress it would be useless even if I think and take my decision to support the Congress," confided the MP.
Informing that he is yet to receive any intimation from either the Congress or from its rivals and independent MPs on the issue, Charenamei expressed he wait for while to observe political development before taking any definite decision.
"A clear picture come out after the arrival of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh," said the MP.
Elucidating on his posture with regard to the nuclear deal, he cited necessity of adequate power/energy supply for development of the country for his preference to the Congress party's approach on the issue.
On whether he would, in case of supporting the Government, bargain with the Congress party on the Naga integration issue, Mani Charenamei said 'there should be some talks or understanding when such development comes'.
