The outfit hardcore leaders including Home Deputy Defence, Organizing Secretary, Area Commanders, member of JMG and cadres led by Home Secretary observed a minute silence as mark of tribute and honour to its founder at the parade ground of its designated camp before the observation was held inside the Ebenezer Peace Camp Church.

Speaking at the function, the outfit Home Secretary Jangboi Kipgen said that to understand the rise of the Kukiland movement, it is imperative to locate the history and formation of Kuki National Front as it is the original vocal propagator of the idea of Kukiland movement propounded by its founder (L) Nehkholun Kipgen who considered the absence of self-governance and political autonomy brought untold misery and sufferings to the Kuki people.

Narrating the biography of its founder, he continued that Late Nehkholun Kipgen was born in 1957 at Khoripoh village in Sadar Hills as the third son of Jangkhomang Kipgen and Limkholhing Kipgen and began his campaign to set up Kuki Armed Movement in Indo-Burma border area in December 1986.Later, after roving every nook and corner of the Kuki dominated land and met every Kukis irrespective of clans and tribes, taking the public mandate, he finally founded the Kuki National Front (KNF) on May 18, 1987 at Molnoi in Burma, he added.

He also said that on May 18, 1988, the first raising day of KNF was celebrated at Molnoi village in Burma with the support and encouragement of Kuki chiefs and public where KNF was declared as the Kuki People's Representative and was given the public mandate to carry forward the revolutionary movement.

However, he died a martyr's death unfortunately in the hands of the security forces on October 12, 1993 at Motbung and his mortal remains had been laid to rest at the present memorial site at Phaijang village in Kangpokpi District, outfit Home Secretary added.

While motivating the cadres and leaders of the outfit, the Home Secretary also said that it is solely for the love of the Kuki community that their founder had established a platform for self-governance which they should always cherish with the same love among themselves and the people.

The outfit Organizing Secretary, Nelson and Area Commander Stallone also spoke on the occasion motivating the ideas and philosophy of its founder among cadres.

A prayer session was led by Ebenezer Peace Camp Chaplain, Rev Thangkholet Kipgen with a prayer points of unity among the Kukis, early amicable solution through the ongoing peace talks with the Government and for the cadres and leaders of the outfit in its struggles to find self-governance for its people.

Meanwhile, the Kuki National Front (N) also observed the 26th death anniversary of Nehkholun Kipgen, founder of Kuki National Front at its Tactical General HQs, Daitwi Camp today.

The outfit also termed (L) Nehkholun Kipgen as 'Mahatma Gandhi of the Kukis' for being the first Kuki leader pioneering the idea of Kukiland movement stating that he had founded the people's representative in the name of Kuki National Front which now becomes the mother organization of all the present Kuki revolutionary groups.

It also stated that KNF-N is still unwearyingly continue the ideology of Kukiland Movement disseminated by (L) Nehkholun.
