Imphal, October 03 2026: The NSCN (IM) has asserted that it was not involved in the ambush and killing of Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) leaders, Rev Dr Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou that occurred near Kotzim in Kangpokpi district on May 13, 2026 .

In a statement, the NSCN(IM) said it strongly refutes and condemns "baseless, malicious, and fabricated news items being circulated on various social media platforms " alleging its involvement.

It further asserted that there is no individual named MS Chekneichung Chiru @ Achung in the rank and file of the NSCN .

The inclusion of this rame in connection with our organization is entirely fictitious, uncalled for, and defamatory, it said.
