Imphal, October 03 2026:
Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has appealed to all concerned to keep the education sector outside the purview of bandhs and blockades, stating that frequent bandhs and blockades are severely affecting students' education and their future.
He was speaking as chief guest at the 59th Foundation Day of Wal United Youth's Club at Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Imphal East today.
Stating that having a club like Wal United Youth's Club in Wangkhei AC is something to be proud of, Arunkumar said the club has not only been serving its locality but has also extended significant support by providing assistance to various relief camps for people displaced by the ongoing conflict who have left their homes.
He said clubs have a major role in guiding the youth onto the right path.
Children in a locality are growing up without knowing each other, which weakens the unity of the locality, he observed.
Clubs need to take up various initiatives to bring children together and should also take up more activities in the education sector, he added.
Pointing out that there are many coaching centres for competitive examinations, the MLA said he has made arrangements to provide opportunity for 50 youths of Wangkhei AC who have passed Class 12 and BA/BSc and wish to appear in such competitive examinations.
Appealing to all not to affect the education sector while calling bandhs and blockades, he urged all to not spoil the career of students.
The function was attended by Director, Planning Department, Dr RK Radhesana Devi, advisor of Wal Club RK Sanajaoba Singh, retired Associate Professor, DM University, Dr N Achouba as guests of honour, while president of Wal United Youth's Club T Bhupenkumar presided over the function.
