Imphal, October 03 2026:
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has called for unity among the people to remove the BJP from power in Manipur.
Quoting its spokesperson Dr Seram Rojesh, the MPP, in a statement, said the situation in Manipur and the developments currently taking place in Delhi and within India's democratic institutions are interconnected, describing them as consequences of the policies of the BJP-led Union Government and the BJP rule in Manipur.
Saying that the people of Manipur have suffered from violence, division and political failure for over three and a half years, it added that the same pattern of divisive politics and erosion of democratic institutions should not be allowed to spread across the country.
The MPP called upon the people of Manipur, particularly the youths, to remain united in defending democracy, peace, Constitutional rights and the political interest of the people of the State.
The party also said that it supports the Nationwide demand for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
While every citizen must have the right to vote, the electoral system must be protected from manipulation and political interference, it said.
