MSCP celebrates 16th birthday

Declaring that Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) will definitely field candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, party MLA K Thamarjit said until and unless BJP State unit vacate the Nityaipat Chuthek plot and office, MSCP will never extend cooperation to the BJP.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 16th foundation day celebration of MSCP at Gandhi Memorial Hall today, Thongju AC legislator Thamarjit accusing the BJP of unjustifiably occupying the Nityaipat Chuthek plot insisted the same be handed over to the MSCP.
Regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled in 2014, he said MSCP will soon discuss on fielding candidates for the two Parliamentary seats in Manipur.
Pledging to eradicate the malaise of corruption and take pro-active role in resolving various issues afflicting the State, Thamarjit voiced party's strong opposition on imminent loss of Manipur's territory to Myanmar consequent to the ongoing border fencing project.
He also expressed strong resentment that violent incidents such as bomb blast has been recurring in the hill districts which were otherwise peaceful compared to the valley areas.
In her address at the occasion, Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen highlighting presence of MSCP workers in all the 60 assembly constituencies stressed on strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level.
Describing MSCP as a political organisation that aims to accommodate aspiration of every indigenous community and promote State's overall economic development, Nemcha also conveyed party's commitment to protect the State's integrity.
Addressing the gathering MSCP president and former Minister Yumnam Mani Singh demanded stringent punitive action against Ministers/MLAs accused in corruption cases.
When central political leaders are being sent to jail for indulgence in corruption Ministers/MLAs of Manipur accused of committing similar crimes have been enjoying freedom, regretted the party chief.
He also suggested that for Manipur's overall development each of the 60 legislators need to initiate implement developmental programmes in their respective constituencies.
Besides party workers and loyalists, MLA Janghemlung Panmei and former legislator Vivek Raj Wangkhem were also present at the celebration.
