Imphal, April 28:
Asserting that many educational institutes and Department of Education are functioning under in-charge or look-after basis by Principals, Headmasters, DI, ZEO, the Democratic Students' Association of Manipur today has warned that if no regular appointments are made by July 1, then DESAM would be constrained to take up a number of intense agitation.
Interacting with media persons at the head office of the student organisation, its vice president, LC Santosh said that the culture of appointing in-charge and look-after basis office bearers in the Education Dept started in 1986 .
Since the Education Dept was functioning without anyone with responsibility it was not able to work out the number of vacancies for teachers and other posts, he said.
This provided the ground for the Ministers, MLAs, officials including Education Secretaries and Directors to appoint whoever they wanted, alleged the student leader and added that since then, education has fallen into a death trap.
Asserting that the rot in the present education system is due to the presence of so many in-charge and look-after appointees, Santosh said that the Govt should rectify it or else DESAM would be constrained to take up severe course of action after July 1.All those appointed on in-charge and look-after basis should be sent back to their parent body.
Taking a serious view of turning the campus of Bengali High School to a parking lot after the bomb attack at Babupara, Santosh questioned whether the Govt wants the students to be exposed to dangers.
