Imphal, July 21 2009:
''The State Government has not given any assistance to my two grandsons even though their father was shot dead and their mother brutally murdered, after being raped by unidentified armed persons, nor have the killers been arrested ''.
These are the words of Laishram Tampaklei of Tekcham, while appreciating the financial help, rice and other assistance extended to her two grandsons by Padmashree L Nabakishore today.
Despite her advancing years, Tampaklei has been taking care of her two grandsons, Laimujam Romeo and Laimujam Roshan who are studying in class II.
They are the surviving children of Laimujam Rojen of Tentha Heibung, who was shot dead by unidentified armed persons in 2004 and Laimujam Ongbi Inaotombi alias Shantibala who was brutally murdered after being raped by unidentified armed persons in April last year.
Overwhelmed with emotion at the humanitarian gesture, Tampaklei said "the financial assistance and the act of handing the rice personally is very touching, in view of the fact, that the Government has not given any assistance to the two surviving children of my son and daughter-in-law.
Their killers have not been identified or arrested so far inspite of agitation being launched along with formation of a JAC".
Nabakishore handed over the aid including financial assistance, rice, milk and clothing items to the two young orphaned children in the name of Ragini, the daughter of Sapam Geeta who is a columnist of The Sangai Express, Manipuri edition.
During the tour organised by Sapam Geeta, Nabakishore also handed over similar aids like rice and money to nine other individuals including 106-year old Wangkheimayum Amusana of Charangpat Maning Leikai, and Maring Clan Forum.
Talking to mediapersons at the occasion, Nabakishore said that he has been provided aid to the poor and needy people and would continue to do so.
