Noney district administration and civil society organisations have finished all preparations for Governor La Ganesan's visit to Noney tomorrow.
The Governor's visit to the district will be the first of his scheduled visit to 13 districts of the State.
During his visit at Noney district Headquarters, the Governor will inspect infrastructure development works including the progress of the railway project.
The main programme will be held at Multipurpose Hall Longmai-3, Noney.
Security has been tightened in the district under the supervision of the district's Superintendent of Police.
Meanwhile, prior to the Governor's visit, civil society leaders have urged the Government to install required institutions of a full-fledged district at Noney and also improve health services.
Civil society leaders who came to attend the foundation day celebration of Noney District Working Journalists' Union said although the then Congress Government had created new districts including Noney in 2016, it still lacks the required infrastructure of a full-fledged district.
Adai Dangmei, chairman of Villages Council Longmai Area said that the Noney Primary health Centre is facing shortage of doctors and other staff.
Memoranda asking for adequate infrastructure have been submitted repeatedly but the Health Department has not acted positively till today, he added.
He maintained that the people of Noney and workers engaged in construction works of the railway projects are facing immense difficulties due to shortage of staff and infrastructure in the Noney PHC.
The people of the region have to travel kilometers to reach hospitals in Imphal where they can get proper treatment.
Pregnant and expecting mothers mostly feel the brunt, he said.
The CSO leaders also appealed to the State Government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh to post adequate doctors, nurses, lab and ambulance with drivers at Noney PHC.
They also appealed to the Government to improve the infrastructure and enable the PHC to perform as a district hospital.
