AR, Army commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

As a part of the observance of Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Mission, Assam Rifles conducted extensive cleanliness drives under the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign on Wednesday across the state, including Imphal West, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that these efforts, encompassing villages witnessed participation from over 900 civilians, students, and AR personnel.
Mahatma Gandhi believed that cleanliness is not just a responsibility but a key to health and dignity.
His vision of Swachhta was deeply tied to the empowerment of communities and respect for the environment.
By actively participating in cleanliness drives, AR honoured his enduring legacy, emphasising that sustainable change begins with collective action towards a cleaner, healthier future, said the PRO.
The drives were carried out in areas/villages covered by AR units and Company Operating Bases located at Chandrakhong, Lilong, Singjamei, Mantripukhri, Moreh, etc.
The PRO also informed that AR organised 'Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir' at Govajang village and Home Guard Veng, Moreh, to educate villagers on the significance of hygiene and sanitation.
The event featured a lecture followed by a joint cleanliness drive, strengthening bonds between security forces and the local populace.
Simultaneously, in Churachandpur and Chandel districts, the drive involved active participation of AR personnel, local civilians, and students in promoting the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
Indian Army also conducted multiple cleanliness drives in Bishnupur and Leimakhong Military Station in connection with Gandhi Jayanti and Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that Army organised cleanliness and awareness drives in collaboration with CAPF and locals at Mannumjang, Kolbung, Nganukon and Haotak villages in Bishnupur district.
At Leimakhong Military Station in Kangpokpi district, the soldiers and their families conducted cleanliness drive under the theme 'Plastic Free Leimakhong' ensuring cleaner surroundings and healthier environment in the state of Manipur, it added.
