AR celebrates IWD, aids orphanage centre

As part of the International Women's Day celebrations, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) held a number of events aimed including screening of movie on women s empowerment, painting competition, cultural programmes, lectures, and interactive workshops aimed at empowering the women.
These events provided an invaluable platform for dialogue and reflection on the importance of gender equality and women's rights.
The informative lecture aimed at educating the women on various policies undertaken by the government for the welfare and uplift of women.
The important role played by women in all spheres and their immense contributions towards nation building was also highlighted, said a release of PRO IGAR (S).
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles constructed and inaugurated a new toilet block complete with running water facility at Oriental Children's Home Orphanage School, Chakpikarong village in Chandel district on Saturday.
A release by PRO IGAR (S) informed that provision of a new toilet block for the school has ensured a clean sanitation system and hygienic environment in the school and reduced chances for any waterborne diseases.
It also stated that although the Orphanage School has been serving the needs of numerous underprivileged children in the area, devoid of clean and usable toilet block and lack of running water posed a grave threat to hygiene of the kids.
The Assam Rifles commandant dedicated the toilet block to the children and interacted with them post inauguration, added the PRO.
