AR conducts health camps, security meet

Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a mega medical and dental health camp in collaboration with Hmar Students' Association and support of District Health Society at Saikot village, Churachandpur district, on Saturday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the camp conducted under the supervision of 14 doctors from Churachandpur District Hospital and Assam Rifles and 20 trainee nurses from Bethesda College of Nursing, Churachandpur benefitted 535 villagers, including 271 females and 176 children.
A similar initiative was also undertaken at Poi and Khamasom Walleli villages in Ukhrul district on Sunday under Op Sadbhavna, with total of 543 villagers (297 from Poi village & 246 from Khamasom Walleli and nearby villages) examined and provided with free medical checkup and basic medication.
The villagers were imparted knowledge on environmental hygiene, sanitation, lifestyle diseases and contagious diseases and measure to prevent them, said the PRO in another release, adding that the village authorities applauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles to enhance mutual trust, harmony and peaceful association with the local populace.
Assam Rifles also conducted a medical camp at Phundrei village in Thoubal district under operation Sadbhavna 2023-24 consequent reports about locals of Phundrei and adjoining villages facing problems due to lack of adequate staff and medicine stock in nearest PHC.
On the other-hand, an 8-year-old child of Tuilum-jang village was brought to AR Camp Hospital at S Khollen village in Churachandpur with cut injury over right eyebrow sustained while playing football on March 8 .
The medical team of AR provided timely medical assistance and administered suturing and wound dressing.
Further, tetanus injection and medicines were given for early recovery, the PRO informed.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a joint security co-ordination meeting at Moreh town, Tengnoupal district on March 9 to enhance security cooperation and intelligence sharing among various law enforcement agencies.
The meeting chaired by commandant of Assam Rifles was also attended by SSP (combat ops), SP Tengnoupal, SDPO Moreh, as well as representatives from Army, RAF, CRPF and BSF.
Discussions focussed on strategies to bolster security measures and increasing seamless coordination amongst security agencies, said the PRO, adding that the collaborative effort underscores the commitment of Assam Rifles and allied agencies towards maintaining peace and security in the area.
