Imphal, October 27 2024:
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association and GM Motiwala Education and Welfare Trust, Nasik, organised a mega medical and dental health camp in Churachandpur district on Friday and Saturday.
The event took place in Tuibong and Mata villages with specialist doctors proficient in various fields, including Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Homeopathy, and General Medicine participating.
A statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) informed that the camp was supported by medical officers and a dedicated team from Assam Rifles, as well as dental surgeons from the 14 dental units of Assam Rifles, specialists from District Health Services, and members of the "Doctors for You" association.
A total of 30 staff nurses from Bethesda College of Nursing provided para-medical, logistical, and administrative support for the camp.
The event also featured the distribution of free sanitary pads, sponsored by SHOISHOB - A Foundation for Children, with assistance from the Kuki Women's Union, Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, and volunteers from the Christian Fellowship Church.
The primary aim of the medical camp was to address the immediate health needs of the community by offering free medical assistance, consultations, and health check-ups.
This initiative was part of a broader effort to foster mutual trust, harmony, and peaceful relations with the local populace and internally displaced persons.
The camp reached out to the residents of Tuibong, Mata and neighbouring villages, ensuring they received necessary medical care during the ongoing crisis.
Approximately 1,480 individuals benefitted from the camp, including 540 females, and 590 children.
Special emphasis was placed on educating the villagers about environmental hygiene, sanitation, and the prompt diagnosis and prevention of prevalent lifestyle and contagious diseases.
Health and dietary counselling was also provided, along with dental hygiene education, aimed at promoting disease-free families and a healthier society, the statement added.
