Headmen, Kamjong DA refute UCM's claim

Imphal, April 23 2020: The headmen of Chadong, Ramrei, Riha and Thoyee villages have strongly condemned the statement uploaded on social media by UCM general secretary Khuraijam Athouba on April 20 .

The particular statement which accused Phungyar AC MLA Leishiyo Keishing, the Kamjong DC and their team of misappropriating relief materials was baseless and devoid of truth, said a press release jointly signed by the headmen of Chadong, Ramrei, Riha and Thoyee villages.

It was rather unfortunate and shocking to the villagers of Chadong, Ramrei, Riha and Thoyee as the allegation came at a time when the villagers were expressing profound gratitude to the MLA and the DC for their humanitarian service during the current hard time.

The village headmen also asked all concerned to refrain from spreading unofficial and false information which can potentially defame the authorities and confuse the public.

The district administration of Kamjong has also strongly refuted the claims of UCM.

This allegation is completely unfounded and baseless and "We were handling and overseeing the picking up and transportating of PMGKAY food grain at FCI godown, Ukhrul for the current month of April.

The earlier distribution of foodgrains under the provision of NFSA was carried out through the FPS agent and the food grain transported to the FPS by the appointed transport contractor," said the district administration of Kamjong in a statement.

"The district administration is entrusted to distribute foodgrains under PMGKAY from April onward to provide food grains @ 5 KG per family member under NFSA.

This means that the district administration would be distributing 5 KG per person to all the beneficiaries of NFSA.

The district administration would also be distributing rice purchased from the FCI under OMSS with fund from the MLALADF for those individual who are non-beneficiaries of NFSA," it added.
