Active cases cross 10K as state logs 1127 new cases, 17 deaths

Imphal, July 20 2021: The state on Tuesday reported 1127 new positive cases of Covid-19, out of 7279 samples tested in the last 24 hours, and 17 fatalities.

Though the number of cases is slightly higher than Monday's 724 new cases and 16 fatalities, a slight reduction was witnessed in the daily positivity rate as Tuesday registered 15.48 per cent positivity rate against Monday's 17.84 per cent.

The average positivity rate for the current month rose to 15.12 per cent on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the active caseload swelled to 10,067 on Tuesday out of which 4151 (41.23 per cent) are in home isolation, 3356 (33.34 per cent) in CHICs, 1605 (15.94 per cent) in CCCs and 955 (9.49 per cent) are admitted to different hospitals.

Among the patients admitted to hospitals, 136 are in ICU/HDU wards while 394 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator/NIV support.

On the other hand, 133 patients are on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Monday night, 1683 beds are available in hospitals (302 beds) and CCCs (1381 beds) .

Out of the 302 beds available in hospitals, 66 are in government hospitals, 53 in private hospitals, 5 in LF School (MSF), and 178 in different facilities including district hospitals & CHCs.

According to official reports, the 1127 new cases included 1112 people (526 male & 586 female) from among the general population and 15 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (24), JNIMS (62), District Hospitals (759) and other testing centres (282) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (321), Imphal West (350), Thoubal (78), Bishnupur (90), Kakching (76), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (100), Chandel (22), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (14), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Noney (9), Pherzawl (2) and Kangpokpi (18).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 17 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, which took the cumulative count to 1409.The district wise fatalities on Tuesday are Imphal West (6), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1).Out of 17 deaths, 15 persons had co-morbidities and only 4 of them were vaccinated with 1st dose.

However, the report did not provided age, gender and time gap between vaccination and infection of the victims.

In the last 24 hours, 736 patients were discharged from home isolation (325), RIMS (18), JNIMS (13), CCCs (148) and CHICs (232) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 86,723 (general population - 82,770 and CAPF personnel - 3,953).Number of recovered cases is 75,247 (general population - 71,386 and CAPF personnel - 3,861) and number of active cases is 10,067 (general population - 9,980 and CAPF personnel - 87) .

The recovery rate is 86.77 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1864 D-type and 351 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

A total of 22,623 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 9,46,675 including 1,19,452 persons who have got both doses of vaccine.

The state has recorded 57,323 positive cases and 1035 death cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw addition of 16,933 new cases and 259 fatalities out of which 7306 new cases and 100 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

Meanwhile, 103 new positive cases were detected out of 404 samples tested in Kakching district from Monday 2 pm to Tuesday 2 pm, thus registering a positivity rate of 25.50 per cent.

Four cases were detected at Jivan Hospital, 11 at Ema Hospital and 88 at different government RAT sites.

One of the 103 new positive cases is a jawan of 23 Sector AR while the remaining are residents of Kakching district.

As per report from DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected people has reached 4918 in the district out of which 4052 have been discharged and 97 have died while the active caseload is 769.As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (29,707), Imphal East (19,236), Thoubal (7285), Churachandpur (7238), Kangpokpi (2114), Tamenglong (2502), Bishnupur (6027), Senapati (1610), Ukhrul (1620), Kakching (4782), Chandel (1505), Noney (678), Tengnoupal (885), Jiribam (863), Kamjong (505), and Pherzawl (166).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (488), Imphal East (344), Thoubal (128), Churachandpur (122), Kangpokpi (41), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (122), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (86), Chandel (24), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 27,948 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,386 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,26,786 tests per million population against the national average of 3,20,859 TPM.

Case fatality rate slid down to 1.62 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 7279 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 15.48 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.55 per cent.
