Lies of KNO/KNA (B) exposed for all to see

Imphal, January 03 2024: Kuki militant outfit KNO/KNA-Burma has been caught "lying" in a statement it released as a rebuttal to a claim that it was suspectedly involved in the attacks on State security forces at Moreh.

While the statement denied the claim that it was allegedly involved in the "Moreh gunfight", the outfit was caught lying in claiming that the gunfights in Moreh were between Kuki village volunteers and "Meitei militia" who were camouflaged as Manipur State police commandos" .

The outfit's press statement was a reaction to Chief Minister N Biren Singh's claim that it was suspectedly involved in attacks on security forces at Moreh.

What KNO/KNA-B claims in the press release

First claim
The KNO/KNA-B claims the gunfights in Moreh were between Kuki village volunteers and Meitei militia camouflaged or disguised as Manipur State police commandos.

Facts

It may be noted that armed Kukis have carried out fierce attacks on State forces and Central security forces (BSF) at Moreh in the last few days.

The armed Kukis have targeted and fired rocket propelled grenades on the State security forces.

On January 2, armed Kukis carried out an ambush on State security forces and Border Security Force (BSF) in an area between Moreh Ward No 8 and 9 .

The attack injured eight security personnel including five Special Commandos and three Border Security Force personnel.

It may be noted that the Border Security Force (BSF) is one of the Central Armed Police Force and not State force.

On December 30, armed Kukis attacked State security forces at their temporary camp at Moreh and injured 5 Special Commandos.

2nd claim
The KNO/KNA claims "constant provocation, looting, burning of houses and beating innocent civilians impel the Kuki village volunteers to act against such harassment, coerciveness and incendiarism nature of Manipur State police force" .

Facts

As the KNO/KNA-B alleged there was looting and burning of houses in Moreh, it may be noted that the State security forces have arrested several Myanmar Nationals in Moreh for stealing properties, left behind by displaced Meiteis.

On October 22, 2023, Special Commandos arrested three Myanmar Nationals from Moreh for stealing furniture and electrical items from houses that were burnt down during the crisis.

Notably, there is no Meitei resident in Moreh at present.

All Meitei residents fled for their lives in early May after Kukis attacked them and burnt their houses on May 3 .

Displaced Meitei people of Moreh are staying in relief camps across Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal districts.

Only Kukis and few members of other communities except the Meiteis are in Moreh.
