AR conducts series of events to mark I-Day

Imphal, August 14 2025:
To commemorate India's 79th Independence Day, Assam Rifles orchestrated a vibrant series of celebrations across Chandel, Kakching and Tengnoupal district and in Imphal, drawing enthusiastic participation from over 1,200 individuals including civilians, students and troops.
According to PRO IGAR (S), Assam Rifles in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited organised a motorcycle rally across the Imphal valley.
Flagged off by Inspector General of Assam Rifles major general Ravroop Singh from the Marjing Polo Complex, the rally featured over 100 riders from six biker groups alongside Assam Rifles personnel.
In Kakching district, yoga session, cleanliness drive, and plantation programme were conducted at Kakching garden in collaboration with the Kakching District Yogasana Sports Association.
At ARPS Kakching, students expressed their patriotic spirit through musical tributes, Tiranga cycle rally, and "Run with Tiranga" .
The school also hosted a cultural programme that celebrated India's rich heritage through music, dance, and drama.
In the same district, Assam Rifles organised flag rallies and a medical camp in Pangaltabi, Waikhong, Sugnu and Serou.
In Tengnoupal district, the force led Tiranga Yatra through Moreh town and Pallel where residents of all ages and backgrounds marched shoulder to shoulder, waving the national tricolour and chanting slogans that echoed India's democratic spirit.
From August 13 to 14, the Sehlon Battalion spearheaded Independence Day programmes including hoisting ceremonies, schoolchildren marches, cultural performances, patriotic film screenings, sports matches, and creative competitions on freedom themes along with a medical camp in remote villages such as Kachinbung, Old Samtal, Kovang, New Samtal, Aibol Joupi and Sehlon.
Sajik Tampak, Assam Rifles commemorated the occasion with children from Shalluk orphanage through a "Day with the Company Commander", which included an interactive weapon display and a flag march with students of Jomkholin Memorial School.
Similar engagements in Joupi and Changpol featured Tiranga rallies, friendly football and volleyball matches, and flag hoisting ceremonies.
At Behiang village, Assam Rifles organised a flag march led entirely by local children, whereas in Singhat, Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match between personnel and the local team on Wednesday and drawing competition on Thursday.
As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Assam Rifles conducted flag marches and rallies across Sadu Chiru village, Komlakhong, Sangaithel village, Thoubal, Mantripukhri and Lilong on Wednesday.
