Training on disaster management begins at United College

Imphal, April 02 2024:
A 13-day training programme on disaster response commenced from Tuesday at the Science Seminar Hall of United College, Lambung, in Chandel district.
The training programme, conducted under the upscaling AAPDA MITRA Scheme, is tailored for community volunteers residing in the district.
In a collaborative effort between Department of Relief & Disaster Management/State Disaster Management Authority, and the National Disaster Management Authority, the training programme aims to equip volunteers with essential skills to effectively respond to disasters.
As Chief guest of the opening ceremony, Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar emphasised the importance of such training programmes and pledged to enhance the skills of volunteers, particularly students from United College, South East Manipur College, and Maha Union Higher Secondary School.
United College principal Dr BD Thumdal Anal attended the opening ceremony as the functional president, while Chandel SDC Promilata Monsang was the guest of honour.
The event witnessed participation Of faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students of United College.
