Churachandpur, July 20 2021:
Churachandpur district police have taken full advantage of the empty streets amidst the 10 days strict lockdown imposed across the State as they have erected bamboo dividers on often crowded stretches to better serve the public as and when the unlocking begins.
To make the most of the strict lockdown, the district police has installed bamboo barricades that are crafted by the VDF and police personnel under the supervision of TCP OC i/c James Vaiphei at Tuibong area.
The area covered today has generally witnessed a lot of traffic congestion in the past.
With the installation of the barricades, we are hoping that it will instill lane discipline and prevent accidents along the road, said an officer.
It is learned that in case the district police's experiment with the bamboo barricades succeeds, they will soon be planning more of them all along the Tedim road.
Painted with the police signature colours of black and yellow, the bamboo barricades look gorgeous but it will be prone to damage.
Therefore, the police have appealed to locals to make use of it and not to tamper or destroy it by reckless driving.
