Noney, July 09 2023:
Condition of the NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road is getting worse with each passing day mainly due to lack of maintenance by construction companies concerned.
Large potholes and water logging were seen at many portions of the road.
Due to the seasonal rain for the last few days, condition of the road has been deteri-orating with landslides, mudslides and rockslides at many places.
With Imphal-Dimapur road closed for more than two months, NH-37 is the only route for bringing es-sential commodities and petroleum products from other states with hundreds of vehicles plying on the said highway on daily basis.
Meanwhile, Tousem Area Students' Organisa-tion (TASO) informed that the Kaiphundai to Tousem headquarters road and Tousem to Tamenglong road are in pathetic condition.
The TASO called upon the district administration and work agencies engaged by National Highway Infra-structure Development Cor-poration Limited (NHIDCL) for construction of the roads to start road improvement work by July 10 without fail.
TASO also informed that Tousem area remains with-out mobile connectivity for more than two months due to network problem and asked Airtel Telecom to sort out the problem at the earliest or face stern action.
TASO also appealed to leaders of organisations, local public, social workers and authority concerned to do the needful.
