Man convicted in sexual assault case

Imphal, April 24 2024:
Special Judge POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), Ukhrul on Wednesday convicted one 61-year-old K Ramyo Shimray for sexual assault on two minor girls.
The Special Judge found Ramyo Shimray guilty of sexually assaulting the minor girls between July 28 and August 2, 2018 at a location in Ukhrul district.
The court is scheduled to announce the quantum of penalty on April 29.On August 8, 2018, father of the victims filed a case at Ukhrul police station alleging that his daughters, aged 8 and 6, were sexually assaulted multiple times by K Ramyo Shimray, son of late Ashung Kajingmei of Lunghar village, Ukhrul.
Following the report, Ukhrul police station filed a charge sheet against Ramyo Shimray, and the trial proceeded.
