CRE candidates urge exam centre in state

Imphal, February 21 2025:
State candidates, who are set to appear in the Common Recruitment Exam (CRE) conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for different regular non-faculty Group B&C posts (Grade-IV), stormed the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Friday protesting against the non-designation of Manipur as one of the examination centres.
Around 11 am Friday, the candidates thronged the administrative block of RIMS and attempted to meet the director but were unsuccessful.
Later, some of the protesting candidates were picked out to meet the deputy director of RIMS and submit a memorandum, which contained the demand for an examination centre in Manipur.
In this regard, one of the candidates said that Manipur was excluded from the list of examination centres which included UP and other northeast states.
The candidate continued that owing to the conflict, it is difficult for the candidates to go to other states to sit for the exam due to risk of travelling on the national highways.
Majority of the candidates do not have the means to opt for air travel.
As such, the candidates submitted the memorandum to the deputy director highlighting the inconveniences and requesting for an examination centre in Manipur.
In response, the deputy director said that the request was reasonable and assured to try the level best to fulfil their wishes, the candidate conveyed.
Later, the candidates also submitted copies of the memorandum to the Governor, and Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs.
Relief Committee Manipur also submitted memorandums on the matter to the Governor and the director of RIMS.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Sanajaoba Leishemba has written to the director of AIIMS highlighting the aforementioned issues and urging for making some kind of arrangements to allow the candidates especially those from the valley, to appear the examination in Imphal.
