It is said that Sekmai AC MLA H Dingo contributed Rs 50,000 towards construction of the memorial tomb.
On the fateful day of September 1, 2024, Ngangbam (ongbi) Surbala of Phayeng Mayai Leikai went to her parental home at Koutruk when the place came under drone bombing and firing from Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
It was the first drone attack since Kuki-Chin narco-terrorists launched their premeditated aggression on May 3, 2023, and Surbala was killed in the attack.
Saying that many villagers of Koutruk, Kangchup and Tairenpokpi are still taking refuge at different places because of repeated attacks by Kuki-Chin narcoterrorists, Angom Gojendro urged the Government to ensure the return of these displaced people to their villages at the earliest.
He said that the people of Phayeng, Kangchup, Tairenpokpi and Koutruk cannot live peacefully even today.
They are worried about when the Kukis would attack them again but the Government has not yet taken up any tangible step to address this nagging fear of the innocent villagers, he said.
The war started by Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023 with the main objective of breaking up Manipur is now over two years old but the Government is still unable to bring a solution and restore peace, said Peace and Protection Committee Phayeng president Angom Jiten.
He also urged the Government of India to resolve the Manipur crisis without any further delay.
