Carrying forward the ILPS campaign : Non-locals with 'forged' documents pulled up

Altogether 14 non-local people who allegedly entered Manipur through clandestine means were pulled up by the local people of Kanglatongbi before they were handed over to Sekmai police station.
The 14 non-local people were travelling in an inter-State bus (MN01-0743) when they were intercepted at around 7 am today.
According to the Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat Pradhan, the identity cards shown by the non-local people were forged ones.
Meanwhile, as a part of the ongoing mass movement for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, non-local people residing in Paona Bazar were paraded for verification of their identities today.
The verification exercise was jointly undertaken by the Paona Bazar Women's Welfare Organisation, Governor Road Women's Welfare Organisation and the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System.

According to a joint press statement issued by the first two organisations, no house owners should rent out rooms to non-locals who do not possess valid identification documents.
Non-locals would be prohibited from occupying footpaths and gallis, and they should not mix up with women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel, it said.
On the other hand, Heingang Apunba Club Organisations held a joint meeting under the aegis of the Joint Committee on ILPS (JCILPS) on August 16 at Heingang Thangapat Mapal Community hall.
Similar joint meeting was also held by Yaipha Nupee Marup Meira Paibi and Keikol Semgat Sagatpa Nupi Marup today at Awang Potsangbam Khunou Community hall.
According to statements issued by the Scientific Age youth Association Heingang Kontha and Yaipha Nupee Marup Meira Paibi, the joint meeting resolved to prohibit accommodation of non-local people in their respective areas and also to bar them entry without showing valid identity cards.
The meetings resolved not to purchase any goods or commodities from non-locals.
The meetings further resolved to render its support to JCILPS in demanding the Inner Line Permit System in the State.
