Imphal, December 16 2024:
Amit Shah speaking in forked tongue on Manipur crisis has eroded people's faith in the Government.
The Union Home Minister painting the crisis in Manipur as an ethnic clash is a deliberate attempt to hide India's proxy war, asserted Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI).
COCOMI's statement came after the Union Home Minister in an interview with Aaj Tak said "the violence in Manipur is an ethnic clash, not linked to terrorism or religion" .
Reacting strongly to Amit Shah's statements, COCOMI said "doublespeak" on the crisis has become a reason for indigenous people of Manipur and North East losing faith in the Government.
In the course of 19 months since May 3, 2023, the "double engine Government in the Centre and the State" has made conflicting statements about the crisis.
These conflicting statements have not only deceived the people, but it has also cast doubt on the efforts the Government claims it is taking up to resolve the crisis, said COCOMI.
All the while the Centre is spinning different narratives.
the public here understand that "India is conducting a proxy war using Chin-Kuki militants", it asserted.
The Government has failed to resolve the crisis even after 19 months for it has been focusing only on addressing the immediate problems, COCOMI said.
During the last 19 month of the crisis, Manipur has witnessed terror activities of atrocities, killing of innocent civilians including women and children, burning of houses, use of rocket propelled grenades and drone attacks.
These are clearly acts of terrorism carried out by Kuki narco-terrorists, said COCOMI .
While a community which Chin-Kuki claim belongs in their fold has on many occasions openly said that the conflict has been waged by narco-terrorists and illegal immigrants, India's intelligence agencies such as the NIA and IB have pointed at hands of Chin-Kuki militants behind the conflict, said COCOMI .
Further, former top officers of the Border Security Force and CRPF have also claimed involvement of illegal immigrants and Kuki militants, it added.
With no steps taken up yet to end the crisis, it has become clearer that the Centre doesn't want to resolve the conflict before it achieves its hidden agenda, said COCOMI .
The Chin-Kuki militants are carrying out attacks on indigenous people to realise their dream of forming a Separate Administration carved out of Manipur and operate opium poppy trade freely.
The indigenous people are only defending themselves.
If the Centre really wants to resolve the crisis, it should approach sincerely and not make the people of the State scapegoats for geopolitical gains, said COCOMI .
