Imphal, May 01 2009:
After the failure of streamlining the education system in the State through rationalisation of Education (S) made with all seriousness in the past, poser has been raised on the viability of the recent steps being taken up to rationalise the Zone-I of the Education (S).
Talking to The Sangai Express, some officials of the Education (S) contended that even if the rationalisation process being taken up by the Government is appreciable, it may cause problem if done without understanding existing strength of teachers in each zone.
Elucidating their point, the officials who wished to remain anonymous, explained that after the rationalisation of the teachers under ZEO Zone-I, many schools have been either abolished or merged together and around 140 surplus teachers have been transferred/posted to other zones.
However, transfer/posting of such surplus teachers in other zones without first finding out the existing strength may creat problem at the time of rationalisation of teachers in these zones.
On the other hand, a top official of the Education (S) informed that after completion of the rationalisation process of Zone-I, rationalisation of Zone-II has already been worked out as well and transfer and posting of the surplus teachers from Zone-I to other zones including Zone-II have already started.
However, it has come to the notice that some of the teachers are not respecting the transfer/posting order.
So instructions have been given for issuing show-cause notices to such defiant teachers, the official said, adding that defiant teachers should clearly stated their problems and grievances.
Otherwise, they would be suspended, the official warned, adding that instructions have also been given to submit the names of the teachers who have not obeyed the transfer/posting order.
