Iril, Imphal, Nambul rise above flood level

Imphal, June 01 2025:
With moderate to heavy rainfall lashing the State since May 28, water levels of all major rivers are rising continuously.
While Imphal, Iril and Nambul rivers are flowing above flood level, Nambol River has crossed high flood level and its water current is overflowing at different places.
According to daily flood report received from the main flood control room of Water Resources Department, there was incessant moderate rainfall at different places of both the hills and the valley including catchment areas of Imphal River and Iril River during the last 24 hours.
The rainfall at Jiribam reached 150 mm.
The rain gauge station at Kangpokpi which is the catchment area of Imphal River received rainfall of 69 mm from 6 am of May 31 till 6 am of June 1.During the same period, Saikul area received a total rainfall of 67 mm .
Notably, Saikul is the catchment area of Iril River.
Litan, the catchment area of Thoubal River, recorded 39 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours while Raj Bhavan recorded 34 mm and Lamphel recorded 38 mm .
On the other hand, the water level of Imphal River reached 788.175m at Minuthong at 6 pm today.
This level is very close to the high flood level which is 788.400 m .
The level of the Iril River at Irilbung reached 787.850 m at 6 pm today.
The flood level of Iril River at Irilbung is 787.700 m and the high flood level is 789.200 m.The Nambol River was overflowing its embankments at 10 am today.
Flood level and high flood level of the Nambul River at Thong Nambonbi is 782.175 m and 783.675 m .
The water level of the Nambul River at Thong Nambonbi was 783.575 m at 6 pm today.
Although the level of the Thoubal River is also rising steadily, it has not yet reached the warning level.
At Ithai Barrage, the water level of Manipur River was 769 m at 6 pm today.
The warning level, flood level and high flood level of Manipur River at Ithai Barrage are 769.280 m, 769.300 m and 769.320 respectively.
Four out of the five gates of Ithai Barrage are currently open.
Likewise, four out of the five gates of Imphal Barrage have also been opened.
However, the Shamushang regulator which joins Lamphelpat with Nambul River is still kept shut.
