Huge cache of arms, explosives recovered

Imphal, October 24 2023:
Huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from different parts of Kakching and Bishnupur districts today.
A combined team of Kakching district police commando, Wangoo police personnel, VDF personnel, 136 Battalion BSF and 167 Battalion BSF carried out a cordon and search operation today morning at Wangoo Laipham and recovered arms and ammunition from a hill of Wangoo Laipham near cemetery.
The search operation carried out under the supervision of DIG Range III H Jogeshchandra was led by Kakching SP Th Vikramjit.

During the search operation, the combined team recovered one AK 47 rifle, five SLRs, one modified .303 rifle, one INSAS rifle, three .303 rifles, two single barrel guns, eleven hand grenades, one Chinese hand grenade, fifteen launching tubes, some amount of PEK along with fuse, eight detonators, two detonator boxes, six ballistic cartridges, three empty cases of 12 bore bullets, one bullet proof vest, two walkie talkie sets, one empty magazine of AK rifle, one empty magazine of INSAS rifle, four magazines of .303 rifle, five empty magazines of SLR and one local made pipe bomb.
The recovered items were seized from the spot by observing necessary formalities and handed over to Wangoo police station for further necessary action.
One the other hand, Bishnupur district commando, Kumbi police personnel and 129 Bn CRPF personnel carried out a massive search operation at Gelbung village today morning.
The massive search operation was carried out on receiving specific information about concealment of explosives, arms and ammunition in an abandoned area by some miscreants.
The search operation was carried out under the command of K Meghachandra, SP Bishnupur and it was supervised by IGP Range II K Jayanta.
The combined recovered several arms and explosives from one abandoned hut of Gelbung village.
The recovered arms and explosives included one A1 rifle, one G3 rifle, 32 hand grenades, four numbers of two- inch mortar shells, eleven helmate mine bombs, twenty tube launchers, four smoke bombs, 20 arming rings, one bullet proof jacket and two detonators.
The recovered arms and ammunition were seized on spot by observing necessary formalities and later handed over to Kumbi police station for necessary action and further investigation.
