Students join hands to assist injured fellow students

Hundreds of students have come forward and contributed to a collective fund to lighten the burden of medical expenses being borne by families of students who got injured in a democratic protest taken out against the murder of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi on September 26.About 3000 students of Comet School, Sika Higher Secondary School, Brilliance School, Xtra Edge School, St Stephen Higher Secondary School, Imprint Science Academy, Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, ACI (Advanced Coaching Institute), Kindergarten Montessori School, Human Resource Development Academy (HRD) and Competitive Success Academy have consolidated the contributions they have made at their respective schools.

They collected Rs 1,55,750 from the donation, said a joint statement issued by students of different schools adding that the money has been handed over to four injured students on October and 20 .
As per the statement, Rs 1 lakh was given to Kishan Loitongbam of Yairipok student of Thambalnu School, Yairipok) who sustained pellet injuries on his arm while Rs 35,000 was handed over to Jotin Wahengbam of Lilong Arapti (Urup Higher Secondary School ) who is suffering from blunt liver trauma.
Rs 10,000 each was given to Iriraj Sougrakpam of Uripok Achom Leikai (Student of Johnstone Higher Secondary School) who got injured on his leg and Thokchom Lemenson of Phoubakchou Awang Leikai (student of Kha Manipur College) who sustained pellet wounds on his chest and leg.
They said sixty pellets have been removed from Kishan Loitongbam while another 40 are yet to be taken out while a bullet pierced through the liver of Jotin Wahengbam.
Iriraj Sougrakpam, on the other hand, was hit by a rubber bullet on his left leg while Thokchom Lemenson was shot in the head by the security forces, the students claimed.
"We are a community of students from eleven different schools, namely, Comet School, Sika Higher Secondary School, Brilliance School, Xtra Edge School, St Stephen Higher Secondary School, Imprint Science Academy, Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, ACI (Advanced Coaching Institute), Kindergarten Montessori school, Human Resource Development Academy (HRD) and Competitive Success Academy who have come together in unity.
We are so grateful to everyone who came forward without affiliation or persuasion to help the injured students.
All the contributions and campaigns were done to help our fellow injured students.
This community will be dissolved as soon as the crisis ends," said the students.
Hemanjit and Linthoingambi are two students who went missing on July 6 .
On September 25, photos of the two students taken in captivity and presumably after being killed by Kuki militants surfaced on social media.
The murder of the two students led to massive protests by the students in Imphal and other valley districts on September 26 and 27, demanding justice.
