Search ops continue, weapons recovered

As combined teams of state and central forces continue to conduct search operations indifferent parts of the state, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered on Tuesday.
According to a police report, based on specific input, a combined team of Bishnupur district police, Bishnupur district police commando and Kumbi police, a column of 2 Mahar and a platoon of E129 CRPF conducted search and cordon operation near the abandoned Gelbung village from 6am till 7.30 am on Tuesday.
During the operation, the team recovered one Al(AB) rifle, one G3 rifle, 32 HE Hand Grenade, four 2-inch (Twins) Mortar shells, 11 hand-made mine bombs, 20 tube launchers, four WP Smoke Bombs, 20 Arming Rings, one Bulletproof (BP) Jacket and two detonators/fuses from an abandoned hut.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Kakching district police, VDF, district commando, Wangoo police, SDPO Sugnu, D-Coy 136 BSF, B-Coy 167 BSF and MPTO carried out search operation in Wangoo Laipham area from 3.30 am till 7.30 am on Tuesday.
The team recovered one AK-47, five SLRs, one .303 rifle (modified), one INSAS rifle, three .303 rifles, two Single Barrel Breech Loaders (SBBL), 11 HE grenades, one Chinese hand grenade, three WP grenades MK-I, 15 grenade launching tubes, one fuse pack, six detonators, two detonator boxes, eight ballistic cartridges, three empty cases of 12 bore, one BP vest, two walkie talkie sets (Baofeng), one empty AK-47 magazine, one empty INSAS rifle magazine, four empty .303 rifle magazines, five empty SLR rifle magazines, and one local made pipe bomb from near Wangoo Laipham Mangya cemetery The recovered weapons have been handed over to Wangoo PS for initiating further course of legal action.
Another joint team of Kangpokpi district police, 20 Jat Regiment, D Coy 167 CRPF and B Coy 20 CRPF conducted search operation at Champai village under Leimakhong PS, from 4.30 am till 7 am on Tuesday and recovered one SLR with magazine, two Lathode (US made) 40mm guns, two 12 bore SBBLs (country made), five tube launchers (pompi), 20 live cartridges of 12 bore and 15 tear gas shells.
On the other hand, a com bined team of Churachand pur district police, 46 AR and 48/11/13 E-ITBP conducted search operation in Lam-jang area under Singhat PS from 5.30 am till 6.30 am on Tuesday.
The team recovered one 40mm grenade launcher (local made), one 40mm grenade launcher (tear gas gun), one 12 bore single barrel rifle, two 40mm grenade/lathode and two 40mm grenades (Pumpi rocket bomb).
Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) also carried out cordon and search operation at Lamjang village in Churachandpur district on Tuesday along with ITBP and Churachandpur district police which led to recovery of one 40mm grenade launcher (Police weapon), one 12mm Rifle (Local Made), two 40mm Grenade (police ammunition), one 40mm Grenade Launcher (Local Made) and two 40mm Grenade (Local Made).
The recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Singhat Police Station for further investigation, according to a release.
