Students foot medical bills for injured peers

Hundreds of students in Manipur have come forward on their own to contribute fund for alleviating the burden of medical expenses borne by families of students who got severely injured due to excessive force used by central and state forces during the protests against the killing of two students Linthoingambi and Hemanjit in captivity by the armed Kuki militants.
As per a release, about 3000 students of Comet School, Sika Higher Secondary School, Brilliance School, Xtra Edge School, St Stephen Higher Secondary School, Imprint Science Academy, Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Advanced Coaching Institute (ACI), Kindergarten Montessori School, Human Resource Development Academy (HRD) and Competitive Success Academy contributed a sum of Rs 1,55,750.The amount was handed over to four injured students namely, Kishan Loitongbam of Yairipok (Rs 1 lakh), Jotin Wahengbam of Lilong Arapti (Rs 35,750), Iriraj Sougrakpam of Uripok Achom Leikai (Rs 10,000) and Thokchom Lemenson of Phoubakchou Awang Leikai (Rs 10,000) on October 16 and 20 .
