14 athletes in State's Pencak Silat squad for Goa National Games, flagged off

Imphal, October 24 2023: As many as 14 athletes are set to represent Manipur in the 37th National Games Pencak Silat having sealed their qualification through 11th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship held in August last in Nashik, Maharashtra.

The squad led by three officials were formally flagged off today by the association.

The names of the athletes who made it to the State squad are as follows.

Women : Shamjetshabam Bidyaluxmi (-45 kg), Thounaojam Rita (45-50 kg), Ningthoujam Priya (50-55 kg), Yaikhom Anjali (55-60 kg), Ahongshangbam Sarjubala (60-65 kg) and Sanasam Sophia Chanu (65-70 kg);

Men : Yaikhom Rohit (45-50 kg), Naorem Boynao (50-55 kg), Yaikhom Kiran (55-60 kg) and Huidrom Bishan (60-65 kg);

Artistic : Huidrom Bishan (Tunggal); Naorem Boynao (Solo Men); Siman Chingkhei Singh and Sinam Jeevan (Ganda Men) and Thokchom Benao and Thingbaijam Daya Lakshmi Chanu (Ganda Women).

Laishram Ranjit, Ningthoujam Robindro and Laishram Shyamkumar are leading the squad.

Expressing hope that the athletes may win at least 10 medals from the Games, Pencak Silat Association of Manipur extended best wishes to the squad.
