KCP cadre held, soldier found dead

Based on specific intelligence about money extortion by armed persons from truck drivers transporting timber near Komlaching in Senapati district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a joint operation on Monday, resulting in the apprehension of a KCP (T) cadre involved in the extortion activity.
The joint team reportedly recovered several items from the said individual, including one each Bolero vehicle, hand grenade, 9mm pistol, ammunition and other warlike stores.
The apprehended individual and recovered items have been handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, a trooper on sentry duty at the main gate sentry post of 16 Kumaon Regiment, Ningthoukhong was found dead with a bullet injury on this head around 9.30 am Tuesday.
According to reports, the soldier identified as N Kamal Bhakuni, son of Chandan Singh of Bunga village, Al-mora district, Uttarakhand, on sentry duty at the Regiment's Ningthoukhong post was found dead with bullet injury on his head.
An unnatural death case has been registered, said the reports.
