CCpur rally demands separate administration

CCpur, July 20 2023:
Around 10,000 people attired in black clothing gathered at Lamka Public Ground on Thursday to demand separate administration for Kuki inhabited areas of Manipur.
The rally, organised by Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) and joint student bodies, began at 10 am despite heavy rainfall in the district.
' Holding banners with messages like ' Too much tribal blood has flowed, separation is the only solution," "Rally for separate administration," and "Central government, please recognise our separation from Manipur," the participants raised their slogans such as "We want total separation" and "Long live tribal unity." The crowd also expressed their dissatisfaction with the Biren government, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren.
The catalyst for this massive public outpouring seems to be a viral video showing two women being paraded naked by a mob, which deeply stirred the emotions of the community.
The protestors passed through the town, taking Tipaimukh road, IB road, and finally, the Tedim road, culminating their march at Peace Ground, Tuibong where ITLF leaders and community representatives addressed the pressing issue at hand, while local artistes performed.
During the event, a memorandum urging for a separate administration was submitted to union home minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur.
The ITLF general secretary, speaking at the public meet ing, expressed confidence in the Centre's consideration of their demand for separate administration.
Religious leaders also took the stage, highlighting the violence faced by Kuki people.
The protestors also reaffirmed their stance for separate administration.
