Imphal, July 20 2023:
Student bodies of different government schools in Imphal area demanded the government to relocate security forces including Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel from school campuses so that the students can continue their study.
General secretaries of student unions of TG, Johnstone and CC higher secondary schools held a joint a press meet at Keishamthong Elang-bam Leikai community hall on Thursday during which TG Higher Secondary School Students' Union general secretary Manshi Sagolsem pointed out that the government utilising government schools as temporary camps of security forces is not only affecting the academic process of these schools but also causing discomfort the staff and students.
Due to occupation of the educational institutions, assembly floor and footpaths of the schools have developed cracks and sunk while waste materials, both degradable and non-degradable, are polluting the school campuses while drains are clogged.
Sharing washrooms of students and teachers with the security personnel is also creating serious inconvenience and sense of insecurity, she said while reiterating the demand that the government expedite process for shifting the security forces and allow resumption of normal class either offline or online.
The secretary further said that they will submit memorandums to chief minister, education minister and education (s) director in this regard.
