Centre responsible for unwanted incidents: AMUCO

Maintaining that the government of India has not taken up any measures to control the crisis which has been lingering on in the state for last two and a half months, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has held the union government accountable for all the unwanted incidents in the last few days.
Addressing media persons at its Kwakeithel office here on Thursday, AMUCO president Nando Luwang said that the centre is remaining silent despite knowing the fact that armed Kuki militants from Myanmar are continuously targeting the Meitei community in the state.
It is commendable that the Prime Minister of India has at-least raised his voice after the viral video of two women paraded naked surfaced.
However, the people of the state would have appreciated the Prime Minister if he had expressed some words over any actions and efforts of the government to flush out from Manipur armed Kuki militants sponsored by drug cartels.
While condemning in the strongest term the parading naked two women by a mob, the AMUCO president also urged the union government to take up measures to control such barbarous acts and also penalise those who have circulated the video on the social media.
Nando Luwang also pointed out the need for the Union government to speak up and condemn other similar incidents which have occurred in the state including slaying of two blind-folded youths in Leikinthabi, and the missing of three people in Torbung Bangla area after they went to collect their items from the destroyed houses during the violence.
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi, who was also present during the press t briefing, said that the people of Ma nipur have been protesting against all attempts to disintegrate Manipur.
In the process, unwanted incidents like killing of innocent women and children have come to light which is condemned in the strongest terms.
Such acts of violence towards to women and children which could lead the agitation astray should be stopped under all circumstances.
Chipping in All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) president Y Kunjarani condemned the incident of naked parading of the two women.
