Protestors urge Govt to trace whereabouts of missing persons

Imphal, July 20 2023:
Demanding the State Government to track down the whereabouts of two persons who have been missing since July 6, locals staged sit-in protests at Takyel Kolom Leikai and Tera Tongbram Leikai today.
The two missing persons have been identified as Phijam Hemanjit of Takyel Kolom Leikai and Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam of Tera Tongbam Leikai.
Speaking to the media persons by the sideline of the protest staged at Takyel Kolom Leikai organized by YPC and Apunba Nupi Lup, father of Phijam Hemanjit shared that his son left home on July 6 to play football in a nearby playground and failed to return.

In the evening, they were informed by the family members of Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam that his son had allegedly taken their daughter from Keishampat Mutum Leikai near her tuition centre (NEET coaching), the father further said.
As both of them failed to return on that day, the families had thought that the two might have eloped.
However their worries were heightened as they still have not returned in the coming days.
Upon searching, both of them were seen going towards Moirang according to the footage of a CCTV camera installed in the Nambol area.
Another protest was also staged in the locality of Tera Tongbam Leikai organized by Youth Forum and Meira Paibi, Tongbram Leikai.
Speaking to the media persons, mother of Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam also appealed to the State Government to find the whereabouts of her missing child.
Tongbram Leikai Youth Forum general secretary Maibam Dhanabir shared that a complaint had been lodged at Imphal police Station on July 8.But no progress has been made to track the missing girl.
He appealed to the State Government to make all-out efforts in searching for the missing persons in view of their well-being considering the restive situation in the State and to allay the worries of the families.
