NPF welcomes ex-Cong MLA D Korungthang

Two times former minister and expelled Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president D Korungthang was accorded a warm welcome by the Naga People's Front, Manipur State Unit (NPF MSU) at its head office, Senapati on Wednesday.
During the reception programme, a pledge to work in the interest of the party was administered led by NPF state president Awangbow Newmai.
Speaking on the occasion, Awangbow pointed out that any person who wishes to join the party are always welcome but must resign first from the parent party.
Awangbow asserted that people of Manipur have full confidence in NPF which stands for those people who cannot stand for themselves.
It is a party that stands for justice of everyone, whether a small or big community, for everybody and wants to have good relations with everyone.
NPF works to ensure that all have their own rights and promote peace in the state, country and world.
It believes that by respecting each other one could find a way to bring solution to any kind of conflict, including political issues, he emphasised.
The NPF MSU president also conveyed that the BJP led government in Manipur will complete its full term with the sincerity and commitment.
It is the NPF's commitment that could carry the present government from beginning till date with their support, he further claimed, while adding that the party never betrays anybody once they had given their commitment.
On the other hand, D Korungthang expressed happiness for the hearty welcome into the party.
Having resigned from the MPCC and as member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the two-time former minister stated that he had joined the party that mainly focuses on the regional issue.
He also said that he has full hope on working together with the party for the betterment of the people.
Many people think that NPF is a communal party which is totally wrong, the former minister noted.
D Korungthang mentioned that a stable and peaceful government could be brought in the state through presence of the NPF.
With many minority groups living together in his constituency, the former minister expressed hope to work together for the people of the region and for their rights.
Former minister Francis Ngajokpa, who also recently joined the NPF, stated that they have come home to join the ethnic identity of the Northeast and for the people of the state in particular.
He also conveyed that as they are new to the party, they would seek help to better understand the party.
Meanwhile, NPF Central secretary general Achumbemo Kikon welcomed D Korungthang and Francis Ngajokpa.
NPF is a party for the downtrodden people and where anyone can express one's aspirations without any reservation, he added.
Calling upon people who are interested to join the party, Achumbemo asked them to come forward and be a part of the party.
NPF gives an opportunity for the aspiration of not only for Naga people but also for the entire ethnic communities of the Northeast, he noted.
He mentioned that with such focus and target, the NPF was launched on May 28, 2011 in Manipur.
Since then, the party has grown from strength to strength in state.
The party is hopeful of doubling its seats in the forthcoming 2022 assembly elections.
The NPF leader also mentioned that all developments both in the hills and valley could come only through active participation of the NPF.
Had it not been through active participation of the NPF, the situation in Manipur would be far more different from what it is at present, he asserted.
PHE minister L Dikho, Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze, HAC chairman Leishiyo Keishing and other party leaders from central and state units also attended the reception programme.
