Many call on Governor

Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Commissioner (Home) T Ranjit, Khundrakpam AC MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar and chairman of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Manipur Narendra Ningom, called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan yesterday.
While the Chief Secretary and Commissioner (Home), apprised the Governor of the prevailing situation in the State, and the initiatives taken up by the State Government for relief, and rehabilitation of the displaced people, MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar submitted a memorandum to set up pre-fabricated houses in Dolaithabi Bazar for the displaced people of Ikou, Dolaithabi, Litanpokpi and Sadu Yengkhuman, said a press release issued from Raj Bhavan.
The Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Manipur, on the other hand, informed that they have received , mosquito nets, kitchen sets, blankets and hygiene kits from IRCS, New Delhi and the same will be distributed to the relief camps set up across the State.
The Chief Secretary said that District Commissioners (DCs) have been instructed to monitor the price of the essential commodities.
Regarding the inability of payment of private school fees by some families, the Chief Secretary informed that the State will bear the fees of those displaced students.
The Governor asked the Chief Secretary to identify the relief camps facing acute shortage of essential supplies and to constitute a monitoring committee to look into such matters.
She also suggested setting up a helpline number to address the grievances of the inmates directly.
The MLA of Khundrakpam AC Thokchom Lokeshwar? along with sever other people also called on Anusuiya Uikey and submitted a memorandum to set up of pre-fabricated houses in Dolaithabi Bazar for Internally Displaced Persons of Ikou, Dolaithabi, Litanpokpi and Sadu Yengkhuman.
