Imphal, September 05 2023:
A week-long workshop on 'Food Processing Technique and Leeba (Applique art)' was jointly inaugurated by Heritage Foundation of Mankind, Sangaiprou and Imphal East district administration at the relief camp set up at Government Dance College, Palace Compound, here, on Tuesday.
The inaugural function was attended by Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar as chief guest, Foundation president Wairokpam Norendra Singh as president and Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana as guest of honour.
In his address, MLA Arunkumar urged all concerned to learn all available knowledge as much as they could so as to prepare for a better future.
It is our responsibility to protect and preserve the legacy of our forefathers.
As such, utilising the legacies to carve out a source of livelihood is the right step.
Thus, we must be sincere in our efforts and not waste time to ensure the success rate, he said, while urging the inmates of the camp to utilise the opportunities being provided.
Foundation secretary Dr K Sobita said that 'Leeba' art was not well known in the past.
However, due to consistent preservation efforts, there are now many national level awardees in this art style.
She then appealed to the inmates to avail the benefits of the workshop.
