12 Imphal West farmers awarded

Imphal, October 09 2024:
Twelve farmers were handed over The Best Farmer Award 2023-24 in respect of Imphal West district by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of Imphal West Agriculture Department, on Wednesday.
The awards carrying Rs 10,000 each and citation were presented to the 12 farmers in the function held at Nupilal Memorial Complex, here, in the presence of Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar, agriculture director N Gojendro, Imphal West District Agriculture officer S Kennedy and other officials.
In his address as the chief guest, DC Kirankumar said unlike other valley districts, Imphal West has extensive flat land suitable for wide ranging agricultural activities.
While stressing the importance of adopting advanced technology and regular consultation of subject experts to enhance the seasonal yield, he also acknowledged challenges faced due to flood- like situation in the monsoon season and shortage of water during the lean period.
As such, the DC recommended district-specific projects for better yield.
According to district agriculture officer Kennedy, the primary objective of ATMA is to ensure that new technologies developed by research scientists are promptly shared with and delivered to farmers.
He also commended the award-winning farmers for their unrelenting contribution to growth of agriculture in the state.
The award recipients area Khaidem Rabi (Sericulture) of Khurkhul, Ningthoujam Anand (Fishery) of Laphupat Tera, Ningthoujam Jiten (Button Mushroom) of Patsoi Part II, Kangjam Chaoba Chanu (value-added horticultural products), Konthoujam Ngongo (agriculture/mustard) of Sangaithel, Loktongbam Rabichandra (agriculture/arrowhead) of Heigrujam, Laishram Joychandra (horticulture-based IFS) of Mutum Phibou, Sagolsem Ingocha (agriculture/paddy with Nano urea) of Mayang Imphal, Yumnam Sangeeta (horticulture/dragon fruit) of Maklang, Ngaseppam Moirang Leima (paddy) of Lamdeng, Senjam Roshini (poultry) of Taothong, and Taorem Karuna (agriculture-based IFS) of Kanto Sabal.
