Bodies distribute aids, exhort students

Alumni bodies of CC Higher Secondary School and Wabagai Higher Secondary School distributed relief materials to different relief camps in Imphal East and Kakching districts.
CCian Forum Peace Committee, continuing its assistance to displaced families and people living in foothill areas, distributed food items to the residents of Sanasabi village, Imphal East district on Tuesday.
Interacting with the villagers, Committee's publicity secretary Kongbrailatpam Manojkumar encouraged students to focus on their studies to attain academic excellence and utilise their knowledge in bringing a better society.
Despite the horrific experiences and hardships they faced, students should strive to focus on their studies with a firm resolve to shape a better society, he said.
The secretary also praised the locals for their resolute stand to protect their village from Kuki militants despite having several Kuki villages in the area.
He appealed to the people of the state to extend all possible assistance to the crisis affected people, and also urged the government to resolve the crisis and restore peace at the earliest.
Earlier, on Monday, Wabagai Higher Secondary School 1976 Matric Batch Alumni organised its second gathering at the school with retired teacher Huidrom Samungou, former Wabagai ZP member Mayengbam Jayentakumar, alumni members Maibam Nabachandra, Urikhinbam Kunjo, M Joy, S Ibochou and M Dhaneshwar, Peace and Relief Committee Wabagai AC convenor Huidrom Kishwarjit as the members of the dais.
Later, they also donated one thermo flasks to each of the families taking refuge in the relief camp set up at the school campus.
A two-minute silence was also observed in honour of the martyrs, who were killed in the present crisis.
Meanwhile, Changangei Makha Leikai Chaokhat Khongthang Lup, Meira Paibi Changangei provided monetary assistance of Rs 5000 to Langsai Thouna Manipur Head Office, Kakching on Saturday.
