Govt committed to welfare of IDPs: Minister Dingo

Social Welfare minister H Dingo has said that the present government under the leadership of chief minister N Biren has been working tirelessly for the welfare of the people directly affected by the violence and government's main objective is to return displaced people to their respective homes.
Minister H Dingo disclosed this while distributing spectacles to 80 inmates of Mandop Yumpham relief camp opened at Inter State Truck Terminus, Imphal West on Tuesday.
At the distribution function, H Dingo said majority of people displaced by the ongoing violence and taking shelter in relief camps in Imphal West district hail from Sekmai assembly constituency and he too deeply felt suffering of the people.
However, a new ray of hope for the displaced people will come one day as the present government under the leadership of CM Biren has been working tirelessly in this regard, he said adding that government has started discussion at the high level on rehabilitation of displaced people to their native places.
According to minister Dingo, Social Welfare Department has been helping displaced people taking shelter in relief camps and the government has been communicating with residents of relief camps through the DC concerned.
The spectacle distribution function organised by medical department was also attended by CMO Imphal West Dr Jaykumar and officials and staff of CHC Sekmai and PHC Khurkhul.
