Villagers unite against quarrying

Thoubal, April 25 2024:
Residents of 14 villages located along the bank of Ingourok River on Thursday held a public meeting against quarrying activities in the river and nearby hills, at Shik-hong Muslim community hall.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of North Eastern Environmental Protection Committee, United Labour Association, Ingourok and others.
During the meeting, resolutions were adopted to reaffirm the decisions taking during the April 18 meeting, and prohibit any private individual or association from quarrying in Ingourok River, Kakmayai River, Chandrakhong-Phanjakhong River and at the site of the river's origin.
Additionally, United Labour Association has been dissolved and a Protection Committee formed instead.
Anyone found violating the resolutions would be held solely responsible for any action
taken against them.
